2026 Emmy Winners: 'Widow's Bay' and 'Pete' Take the Lead

At the 78th Emmy Awards ceremony held in Los Angeles, the medical drama series 'Pete' and the horror comedy 'Widow's Bay' claimed the top awards of the event. 'Widow's Bay', set in a cursed town in New England, won the Best Comedy Series award on Monday, defeating last season's winner, 'Hacks'.

Matthew Rhys Makes History and Other Awards

Matthew Rhys, star of 'Widow's Bay', made history by winning two lead acting awards at a single ceremony. His co-star Steven Root received the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy, surpassing Harrison Ford from 'Shrinking'. Jean Smart, star of 'Hacks', received her fifth Emmy for her role as Debra Vance, becoming the first actor to win this award in every season of a television program. Noah Wyle, who plays Dr. 'Robbie' in 'Pete', expressed that winning the Best Actor in a Drama award for the second consecutive year was very surprising. 'Pete', set in the Pittsburgh emergency department, won the Best Drama Series award for the second time in a row, defeating other competitors such as 'Pluribus', 'Heaven', and 'The Diplomat'.

Rhea Seehorn won the Best Actress in a Drama award for her leading role in 'Pluribus'. She had been nominated twice but had not received any awards for her role in 'Better Call Saul'. Vince Gilligan, creator of 'Breaking Bad' and 'Better Call Saul', won the award for Best Writing in a Drama for 'Pluribus'.

In the end, 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' won the award for Best Variety Program and concluded its run with six Emmys in its farewell season.
