Abdel Fattah el-Sisi's Secret Message to Mohammed bin Salman Regarding Iran and Ansar Allah

Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the President of Egypt, during his recent meeting with Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, stressed the importance of opening a dialogue with the Ansar Allah movement in Yemen and engaging with Iran. This meeting took place as Cairo seeks to prevent Riyadh from entering prolonged conflicts.

Details of the Meeting and Discussion Topics

In this meeting, which quickly transitioned from security contacts to political leadership, two main topics were discussed. The first topic related to how to engage with Iran. El-Sisi believes that dialogues between the two countries should be deepened and pressure should be applied to the United States to end the wars and reduce the economic blockade against Tehran.

The second topic of these negotiations was how to engage with the Ansar Allah movement. El-Sisi emphasized that a Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue should be opened and no party should be excluded from these discussions. He also stressed that continued military tensions cannot lead to stable outcomes and that negotiation is needed.

Consequences of These Discussions

Abdel Fattah el-Sisi also promised during this meeting to present this plan to Mohammed bin Zayed, the President of the United Arab Emirates. He emphasized the importance of showing flexibility in response to changes following recent wars and added that prolonged military conflicts should be resolved through negotiation.

Additionally, el-Sisi urged bin Salman to open the door for negotiations with Ansar Allah as soon as possible and to refrain from entering into severe military attacks. He also emphasized that Egypt is not inclined to enter into wars that do not have clear objectives.

In this context, Egypt also left the door open for its movements regarding the Yemen issue, whether independently or in coordination with Oman. Haitham bin Tariq, the Sultan of Oman, is expected to visit Cairo soon, and this issue will be at the top of the priorities for this visit.

Following bin Salman's visit to Egypt, during which statements were issued about "brotherhood and distinguished relations" between the two countries, remarks were made by Major General Osama Dawood, the commander of the Egyptian Border Guard, emphasizing coordination between Cairo and Riyadh to secure the shared borders.

A military source in this regard noted that these remarks do not signify any escalation of military tension or readiness for joint action between the two countries, and the collaborations and coordination between the military institutions of Egypt and Saudi Arabia are extensive.
