The martyrdom of nine Palestinian-Americans over the past four years is a bitter and concerning incident that reflects the precarious security situation for these citizens in the occupied territories. These events, especially at a time when Israel continues its aggressive and violent policies, have raised serious questions about the level of protection and security for these individuals.
Is American Identity Really a Security Shield?
While many American citizens rely on their American identity as an advantage for their security, there are harsh realities concerning Palestinian-Americans that indicate this perception is not so solid. Since ۲۰۱۹, over ۲۰ Palestinian-American citizens have been killed in military conflicts and attacks by Zionist settlers. With the increase in attacks, more questions have arisen regarding the lack of support from the U.S. government for these individuals.
The Silence of the International Community
The silence of the international community regarding these events, especially when everything is clearly happening, seems extremely concerning. The apparent support for human rights and social justice has significantly faded in the face of these events, and in practice, no effective action is taken to prevent this violence. Are Palestinian-Americans merely victims of a political game, or does their security truly not matter to the international community?
As this trend continues, concerns about the future of Palestinian-Americans and their security are increasing. Can these individuals still be considered protected American citizens, or will they be forgotten in the ruthless crosshairs of settlers and the Israeli army?
