Ismail Baqaei, spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, clearly stated in a television interview that the Strait of Hormuz will remain under complete control of Iran. Criticizing U.S. actions, he held the country responsible for maritime insecurities and the rise in global fuel prices.

Baqaei pointed out the negative impacts of U.S. policies on regional security, saying: "Insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is the result of U.S. actions, and if the international community is concerned about rising fuel prices, it should hold the United States accountable." He also referred to the violation of the Islamabad agreement just 23 days after its signing by the U.S. and added that the excuses of this country for carrying out attacks have no logical basis.
