More than 830,000 Palestinian students returned to their schools in the West Bank this week, but a bitter reality awaits them. According to published reports, thousands of these students still face serious disruptions in their education.
Evacuations and School Closures: New Challenges for Students
According to information from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), more than 4,000 students who returned from refugee camps in northern West Bank are not continuing their education due to the unstable situation and lack of permission to return to their areas. This comes as six schools affiliated with UNRWA in East Jerusalem have been closed by Israeli authorities, exacerbating the educational crisis.
Abandoned Schools and the Risk of Destruction
In Area C of the West Bank, 10 schools that served more than 360 students have been abandoned due to repeated attacks by Israeli aggressors and access restrictions. Additionally, 84 other schools are at risk of destruction or suspension, directly threatening the educational future of nearly 13,000 students.
Education in the West Bank has become a battleground, and this issue not only affects the future of the young Palestinian generation but also casts a shadow over the entire Palestinian community. In these conditions, conducting online classes is also considered a major challenge due to severe restrictions and humanitarian crises.
Despite these problems and challenges, Palestinian students continue to strive for their education and to achieve their dreams. But will these dreams be realized in the shadow of helplessness and current issues? Only time can answer this question.
