Following the escalation of conflicts in Yemen, Djibouti has been considered a temporary destination for Yemeni refugees. Ilyas Dawaleh, the Minister of Economy and Finance of Djibouti, announced that nearly 500 refugees, including women and children, have arrived in the coastal city of Obock in Djibouti.
Rescue from the Sea
These refugees, who were stranded at sea due to fuel shortages in their boats, were rescued by the efforts of relief forces. Dawaleh stated that these individuals are severely affected by the humanitarian crisis and have an urgent need for humanitarian assistance.
According to reports from the International Organization for Migration, since the onset of the conflicts in Yemen, more than 46,000 people have been displaced in the country. Particularly on September 8, 1,367 families in the provinces of Taiz, Al Hudaydah, and Lahij were forced to leave their homes. This statistic reflects the worsening humanitarian situation in Yemen and its impacts on neighboring countries.
