Iran and Russia jointly criticized Western economic sanctions and called for strengthening trade relations within the BRICS bloc.

In a historic meeting, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin strongly criticized the economic sanctions imposed by Western countries. These two senior officials believe that these sanctions not only do not benefit the targeted countries but also threaten global economic stability as a whole.

Call for Greater Cooperation in BRICS

Masoud Pezeshkian and Vladimir Putin emphasized the need to expand trade and economic relations among BRICS member countries during this meeting. They believe that this bloc can act as an effective force against Western economic pressures and, by encouraging more cooperation, help achieve sustainable and balanced development among its members.

Pezeshkian, referring to Iran's recent achievements in various economic fields, stressed the necessity of increasing trade interactions with Russia and other BRICS countries. He also pointed to the new opportunities for investment and trade that arise from these collaborations.

Challenges of Sanctions and Possible Solutions

In this context, Putin also referred to economic sanctions as a political tool that has significant negative impacts on supply chains and global markets. He emphasized that BRICS countries must work together to overcome these challenges and move closer to each other instead of relying on Western economies.

The emphasis on the importance of such collaborations in the current circumstances, especially following global economic crises, demonstrates the firm determination of Iran and Russia to maintain their economic and political independence against external pressures. As key members of BRICS, these two countries are seeking to form a united front against the economic and political challenges facing today's world.
