As the date of September ۱۵ approaches and the new school year begins in Lebanon, schools in the country are facing unprecedented challenges. While many students are eager to return to classrooms, a significant number of refugees from the recent war in Israel continue to live in these schools.
Dual Challenges: Education and Refugee Status
This situation has not only affected the lives of refugees but has also cast a shadow over the educational process. School administrators and teachers are striving to manage conditions in such a way that both groups benefit from educational services. This has led to a space filled with tension and complexity.
While some schools have become temporary shelters for refugees, there are serious concerns regarding the educational and psychological environment for students. Teachers are facing numerous challenges, including the need to address the emotional and educational needs of both groups.
An Uncertain Future
With the continuation of war and instability in the region, the future of schools in Lebanon, especially in border areas with Israel, remains uncertain. Many parents are worried about whether their children will be able to continue their education fully. Displacement and insecurity have forced some students to drop out, which will directly impact the future of Lebanon's young generation.
In these circumstances, the Lebanese government and international organizations must consider immediate and effective measures to support the educational system and improve the living conditions of refugees. Only then can there be hope for a brighter future for Lebanon and its youth.
