Russian air and missile strikes on Kyiv and its surrounding areas left at least ١٩ injured. The affected areas included Odesa and Zaporizhzhia.

Russian air and missile strikes on Ukraine on October ٢٦, ٢٠٢٣, resulted in at least ١٩ injuries, including two children in the city of Odesa. These strikes, which occurred overnight, took place in various regions including Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa, causing significant damage to infrastructure and residential buildings.

Details of the strikes in Kyiv and Odesa

According to reports from Ukrainian officials, a total of ٣٦ locations were targeted, and debris from downed missiles fell in five different areas. In Odesa, seven people were injured, and a residential building was completely destroyed. Additionally, warehouses, a kindergarten, and several vehicles and garages in the area were damaged.

In the Dniprovskyi area of Kyiv, damage was reported to warehouses, office and residential buildings, and vehicles. In the Solomianskyi district, a warehouse was targeted, and in the Darnytskyi district, damage to a warehouse and vehicles was reported. In total, ٣٣ locations in Kyiv and its surrounding areas were affected.

Impact of the strikes on infrastructure and its consequences

Timur Takachenko, head of the Kyiv regional administration, announced that in the Brovary area, ١٤ locations and in the Fastiv area, ١٠ locations were severely damaged. These locations included homes, warehouses, and production facilities. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in these strikes.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that its forces targeted metallurgical factories, electronics industries, energy facilities, and transportation in these three areas. Additionally, three cargo ships and a ferry that were used to supply military equipment to Ukraine were targeted in the port of Chornomorsk.

These strikes come just days after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Ukraine and Russia had agreed to cease attacks on each other's energy facilities. However, evidence suggests that both sides continue their attacks, and Russia has promised to increase strikes on Ukraine's energy network in the winter months.

Last winter, Russian airstrikes severely damaged Ukraine's energy network, and Ukraine is now bracing for another harsh winter. Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, also reported an attack on an oil refinery in the city of Yaroslavl, Russia, and reported damage to Russian planes and helicopters in an attack on a military base in the city of Rostov.
