The Hotel That Provoked Anger
The hotel project, criticized for its connections to the Trump family, is seen as a symbol of economic inequality and corruption in Albania. Protesters, with various slogans including "Albania for Albanians" and "No to Corruption," have called for the project to be halted and for accountability from officials.
This luxury hotel is set to be built in one of Albania's tourist areas and has been promoted as a tourist attraction. However, many local residents are strongly opposed to it due to rising living costs and negative environmental impacts. According to protesters, this project only benefits foreign investors and wealthy individuals, exacerbating poverty and inequality in the country.
Street Clashes and Police Response
In recent days, the protests have violently turned into street clashes, with the police using tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowd of protesters. These clashes have not only led to disorder and violence in the streets but have also attracted the attention of international media.
