Trump's controversial remarks about the Houthis' request to America not to intervene in the Yemen war raise concerns about the tense situation.

The Trump administration made an unexpected statement, announcing that the Houthis have asked the United States not to intervene in the Yemen war. These remarks come as tensions in the region have sharply increased and the Houthis are expanding their control along the Yemeni Red Sea coast.

Expansion of Houthi Influence

This week, the Houthis, in a lightning operation, have taken control of vast areas of the Red Sea coast and captured strategic islands and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. This strait is recognized as a critical global point for the passage of oil tankers from Saudi Arabia to Asia. Trump stated in this regard: "The Houthis informed us that they do not want to fight us and do not want me to attack them."

Saudi Arabia's Request for Intervention

These remarks come as reports indicate that Saudi Arabia, which supports the legitimate Yemeni government, has twice asked Trump to take military action against the Houthis. However, Trump has rejected these requests. This is while Saudi Arabia recently decided to temporarily halt its oil pipeline due to drone attacks on it from Iraq.

Trump also commented on the recent attacks on Saudi oil facilities, stating that Iran was "likely" responsible for these attacks, but he provided no evidence to support this claim. Meanwhile, the Houthis have also attacked Saudi oil facilities this week, further escalating tensions in the region.

Given that these conditions could impact energy prices, concerns about the implications of these tensions on global markets have increased. Currently, the situation in Yemen and its surroundings is extremely critical, and a significant development in this crisis could occur at any moment.
