Gautam Gambhir: Vebhao Suryavanshi Should Wait for His Opportunity

Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the Indian national cricket team, announced at the post-match ceremony in New Delhi that Vebhao Suryavanshi, India's 15-year-old talent, should wait for his opportunity in the national team. These remarks came after India's emphatic victory in the T20 series against Afghanistan.

Recent Performance of the Indian National Team

The Indian national team successfully completed three matches in this series, winning the last match by 127 runs. Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson appeared as opening players in this series, with Sharma achieving the third-fastest century in international T20 history in this match.

Specifically, Vebhao Suryavanshi, who was the top scorer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year, made his international debut last summer against England. Gambhir further noted that Suryavanshi needs to wait for an opportunity to play. He said, "Whether you are 15 or 30 years old, when it's time to wait for your chance, you must wait." He pointed out that players who have performed well in the past two or three years are always prioritized.

Suryavanshi will soon travel to Nagoya to participate in India's Asian Games campaign. The Indian team will have a special T20 match against the host, Japan, scheduled for Tuesday. This match will take place before the quarter-finals of the Asian Games on September 28.

Gambhir concluded by emphasizing, "Whenever Suryavanshi takes the field, we hope he is given more opportunities. We want competition and talent in the team."
