Jared Kushner: The United States Used Israel's Global Isolation for Gaza Agreement

Jared Kushner, former U.S. President's special envoy, stated at the European Security Conference in Yalta that the United States was able to achieve a ceasefire agreement in Gaza by leveraging Israel's global isolation after the attack on Hamas's headquarters in Doha. This attack, which took place last September, resulted in the death of a security officer and five low-ranking Hamas members. Kushner explained that after this attack, Washington asked Benjamin Netanyahu to publicly apologize to Qatar's leadership.

Details of the Attack and Its Consequences

Kushner referred to Israel's attack on Doha as an unsuccessful act and "something terrible" that led to Israel's global isolation. He said: "We used this isolation as a tool to pressure Israel to reach an agreement that they are now satisfied with. At that time, they were a bit upset about what we were asking from them, but ultimately this agreement was beneficial for them and the people of Gaza."

Response from Likud Party and Israel's Position

On Sunday evening, the Likud Party responded to Kushner's remarks, emphasizing that Prime Minister Netanyahu's decision to send the Israeli army into Gaza City and target Hamas leadership in Qatar, along with the intense pressures exerted by President Trump, led Hamas to abandon its demands and agree to release all remaining hostages in Gaza.

Kushner, who represented the United States in negotiations regarding Gaza, Iran, and Ukraine, noted without holding an official government position that "if we hadn't done all the groundwork, nothing would have happened when the opportunity arose." He emphasized that previous U.S. efforts in this area played a key role in reaching the recent agreement.
