Saudi Arabia confirmed that the Houthis of Yemen fired a ballistic missile towards Riyadh in an attempt to target the city. Turki al-Maliki, spokesman for the anti-Houthi coalition forces, stated on Saturday (٢٨ September) that the Royal Saudi Air Defense forces successfully intercepted and destroyed the missile.
Details of the missile attack
Turki al-Maliki stated: "Our air defense forces were able to intercept and destroy a ballistic missile that was fired by the Houthis towards Riyadh." This Saudi military official also pointed out that the Houthis intentionally target civilian areas in Riyadh and surrounding cities such as Taif and Yanbu.
In response, the Houthis denied this claim, and Yahya Saree, spokesman for the Houthi forces, stated that they only targeted military and sensitive objectives in response to Saudi attacks on Yemeni territory and the targeting of civilian areas. He also emphasized that these attacks followed the massacre of ٧٣٢ people in Yemen.

News agencies reported that following these attacks, a fuel tank belonging to Aramco in Saudi Arabia caught fire, sending thick smoke into the sky. This incident has raised concerns about the security of Saudi oil facilities and highlights the severity of tensions in the region.
