Sisi asks bin Salman to start negotiations with Sanaa and Tehran

Abdel Fattah Sisi, the President of Egypt, emphasized the need to start negotiations with Sanaa and Tehran during the visit of Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, to Cairo in a brief meeting. This visit, which lasted only a few hours, took place without a ceremonial event and focused mainly on developments in Yemen and the situation in the Red Sea.

Efforts to Reduce Tensions in Yemen

Cairo is working to present a plan that prevents Riyadh from entering a prolonged conflict. News sources report that Egypt was surprised by bin Salman's willingness to travel to Cairo and meet with Sisi as soon as discussions about this plan began. This meeting was held to discuss details that could not be resolved through phone calls.

Topics of Negotiation

The negotiations between Sisi and bin Salman focused on two main topics. The first topic related to engagement with Iran, where Cairo emphasized the need to deepen dialogues and pressure the U.S. to stop the war. The second topic concerned engagement with the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement and stressed the necessity of starting Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue. Sisi also promised to present this plan to Mohammed bin Zayed, the President of the United Arab Emirates, and emphasized the importance of showing flexibility in the face of changes.

In this context, Sisi urged bin Salman to quickly open the door for negotiations with Ansar Allah and to avoid entering into severe military conflicts. He also stressed that Egypt has no desire to engage in wars that do not have clear objectives in the real arena.

At the same time, Sisi left the door open for Egypt's movements regarding the Yemen file, whether independently or in coordination with Oman. Haitham bin Tariq, the Sultan of Oman, is expected to visit Cairo soon, and this issue will be a top priority for this visit.

Following this meeting, rare statements from Major General Osama Dawood, the commander of Egypt's border guard, were published on a Saudi network, emphasizing security coordination between Cairo and Riyadh. He stated that the level of military coordination between the two countries is extensive and includes information exchange.
