Hamid Shahriari, Secretary-General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, at the international conference "Commemoration of Sheikh Syed Yahya of Baku" held on Sunday morning in Baku, emphasized the necessity of attention to the two principles of "human dignity" and "justice" and stated: "These two principles can serve as the basis for fair relations among nations and countries."
Emphasis on Fundamental Human Rights
Shahriari, referring to the status of human dignity in Islamic teachings, clarified: "Human dignity is a divine right, and all humans, regardless of religion, sect, and belief, are entitled to this right." He also pointed to the importance of justice as one of the social values in the Holy Quran and said: "Observance of justice must be considered in relations among humans and societies."

Palestine, Victim of Human Rights Violations
The Secretary-General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought emphasized the necessity of respecting fundamental human rights, stating: "The right to life, freedom, access to housing, food, and homeland are among the fundamental rights of humans, and these rights must be recognized for all people without any discrimination." He also referred to the widespread violation of these rights in the world and said: "The people of Palestine are among the main victims of this situation, and what is happening in Palestine, especially in Gaza, highlights the need for the global community to pay more serious attention to human rights."
Criticism of Western Double Standards
Shahriari criticized the "double standards of the West" in dealing with war and human rights, emphasizing: "If killing and displacement are condemned, this condemnation must be uniform across all parts of the world and regarding all nations." He pointed to the necessity of practical support for the Palestinian people, stating: "Now is the time for Islamic countries and the free people of the world to stand together to support the Palestinian people."
Emphasis on Independence and Regional Security
In another part of his speech, Shahriari referred to the recent imposed war against Iran and considered it a test for measuring the independence and capability of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He said: "A powerful Iran can serve as a model for Islamic countries to rely on their internal capacities instead of depending on foreign powers."
The Secretary-General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought also emphasized the necessity of independence for regional countries in ensuring security and warned that regional security should not become a tool for serving the interests of foreign powers.
Conclusion
Considering the views expressed at this conference, it seems that the time has come for Islamic countries to take more practical actions to strengthen cooperation and solidarity in the Islamic world and support the Palestinian people.
