Hojjatoleslam and Muslims Hamid Shahriari, Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, addressed the current conditions of the Islamic world on Wednesday at the international conference "Commemoration of Sheikh Syed Yahya Baku'i" held in Baku, emphasizing two principles: "human dignity" and "justice."
Human Dignity and Social Justice
Shahriari stated that human dignity is a divine right that all humans, regardless of religion and belief, possess, and emphasized that "justice" is one of the highest social values in the teachings of the Holy Quran. He stressed that the fundamental rights of humans, including the right to life, freedom, housing, food, and homeland, must be respected for all people without discrimination. Unfortunately, he added, today we are witnessing widespread violations of these rights, especially against the people of Palestine.

Criticism of Double Standards
The Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, while referring to the developments in Palestine and Gaza, emphasized that the Islamic world has been facing the issue of the occupation of Palestine and the displacement of its people for more than seven decades. He said: "The support of Western powers for the Zionist regime has perpetuated this situation." Shahriari also strongly criticized the West's double standards in dealing with war and human rights, adding: "If killing and displacement are condemned, they should be condemned everywhere in the world."
The Necessity of Cooperation Among Islamic Countries
He deemed it appropriate for Islamic countries, the free people of the world, and international organizations to unite for practical support of the Palestinian people and prioritize the issue of Palestine. Referring to the recent imposed war against Iran, he considered it a test of the independence and capability of the Islamic Republic and noted: "A powerful Iran can be a model for Islamic countries and oppressed nations."
Shahriari emphasized the importance of the independence of regional countries, stating that Islamic countries must rely more on regional capacities to ensure their security. He also regarded the holding of various Islamic unity conferences in Iran as a sign of efforts to overcome the discourse of takfir and division, adding: "Today is an opportune time for friendly countries to cooperate in the path of achieving multiculturalism and countering unilateralism."
In conclusion, the Secretary General of the Forum for Proximity recited a poem from this mystic and thinker, referring to the personality and status of Sheikh Syed Yahya Baku'i.
