Real Madrid fans demand public apology from Mbappé

A group of Real Madrid fans, known as Ultras Sur, has asked Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, and Ibrahima Konaté to apologize for not fully wearing a supportive t-shirt for the people of Ceuta. The three players partially wore a t-shirt designed to express solidarity with the people of Ceuta before Real Madrid's 3-2 victory over Elche on Tuesday.

Ultras Sur's Reaction

Ultras Sur described this behavior as "unacceptable" in a statement published on the social media platform X, expressing confidence that all Real Madrid fans and every Spaniard are ashamed of the image presented by these three individuals. The group also criticized the silence of Florentino Pérez, the president of Real Madrid, and called on him to respond to the issue. This comes as Ultras Sur has been banned from the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium for over a decade due to their behavior.

Criticism from La Liga President

Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, criticized the three players on Wednesday, stating: "Partially wearing it is like not wearing it at all." Meanwhile, the other players of Real Madrid and Elche wore the t-shirt correctly. The t-shirt featured the phrase "We are all Ceutans," which was a message of support for the people of this Spanish region in North Africa that has recently faced a migration crisis.

The city of Ceuta is facing complaints from residents about Moroccan migrants camping on the beaches and sleeping in the streets. This situation has led to a humanitarian crisis, and since the migration attempts in July, several individuals have lost their lives. Estimates indicate that at least 141 people have died in these incidents.

Kylian Mbappé responded to the matter by stating that he wants to make a gesture in support of those who have lost their lives. In an interview with the Spanish sports newspaper AS, he said: "The first thing I want to say is that I have complete sympathy with Ceuta and all the victims. But I also wanted to make a gesture and express my thoughts for all the migrants who have lost their lives and are living in difficult conditions."

On July 30 and 31, tens of thousands of migrants entered Ceuta from Morocco. Most returned to their country hours after arrival, but several thousand remained in Ceuta, leading to tensions with local residents due to their deteriorating conditions.
