Trump Administration Praises Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff for Their Role in Gaza Ceasefire Negotiations

The administration of Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has recently praised Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff for their efforts in the Gaza ceasefire negotiations. At a press conference in Washington, Trump answered reporters' questions and in response to a question about concerns regarding the ability of these two to bring the negotiations to a conclusion, he said: "No, they are doing a tremendous job."

Improvement in the Situation in Gaza

Trump went on to reference the situation in Gaza, stating: "Look at Gaza, at the fact that we have retrieved all the hostages." He also added: "There is not much conflict in Gaza. Hamas is now ready to surrender its weapons." These remarks come as a fragile ceasefire that began in October 2025 has so far resulted in the deaths of over 1,369 Palestinians and injuries to more than 4,627 people.

Existing Challenges and Future Negotiations

This comes as Trump is also seeking to promote John Ratcliffe, the CIA Director, as a new option to lead the ceasefire negotiations in place of Kushner and Witkoff. However, he explicitly stated that he is satisfied with the current performance of these two and does not believe there is a need for a change in the negotiating team.

Trump's comments regarding the Gaza ceasefire and the efforts of his representatives in this regard are indicative of the ongoing efforts of the United States government to reduce tensions in this critical region. Additionally, these statements may serve as a winning card in future negotiations for Trump, especially with the upcoming presidential elections in 2026.

Currently, the humanitarian situation in Gaza is severely affected by conflicts and economic crises, and international efforts to revive the region continue. Trump, referencing this issue, told reporters: "We must end this crisis and help the people of Gaza."
