The U.S. Vice President referred to the situation of the conflict in Yemen and his discussions with the Houthis. He emphasized the need to protect U.S. interests in the region.

The U.S. Vice President, in a television interview on Monday, elaborated on the recent conflict situation in Yemen and the role of the United States in this crisis. He told Fox News: "We have had direct talks with the Houthis (Ansar Allah of Yemen) and are fully aware of the situation and conditions."

Changes on the Battlefield in Yemen

This U.S. official described the situation as fluid and claimed that the U.S. government is closely monitoring these developments. He also mentioned ongoing communications with the governments of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, stating: "We are constantly in touch with the regional countries affected by these conflicts."

In recent days, Yemeni armed forces have successfully carried out operations in response to Saudi airstrikes and ground and naval blockades, which helped push back the Yemeni militants supported by Saudi Arabia. These operations resulted in the Yemeni army gaining control of the historic port city of "Al-Mokha."

The Strategic Importance of Al-Mokha Port

Gaining access to Al-Mokha port significantly enhances the Yemeni army's control over the strategic "Bab al-Mandab" strait. This strait is recognized as one of the most important shipping routes in the world, and dominance over it can have major impacts on international trade and security in the region.

The Yemeni army forces also managed to reclaim several strategic islands from U.S.-backed militants, which further aids in controlling this waterway. These achievements have occurred in a context where Saudi Arabia and its allies have been waging a war against Yemen since 2015, resulting in significant humanitarian and economic impacts.

The direct talks of Trump's deputy with the Houthis may indicate U.S. efforts to reduce tensions and improve the humanitarian situation in Yemen, but this matter is not yet fully clear. As conflicts continue and tensions rise in the region, the consequences of these talks and battlefield developments will become evident in the near future.
