Yemeni Forces Attack Houthi Positions and Saudi Bases

Yemeni government forces launched attacks on Houthi positions and Saudi bases in various provinces on Wednesday. In these clashes, the Houthis also claimed to have shot down a Saudi F-15 fighter jet over Marib. These developments come as the United States has reiterated its support for the Yemeni government and is closely monitoring the situation.

Aerial Attacks and Military Actions

According to reports, Yemeni government forces announced that the Saudi coalition attacked Houthi positions around the port of Mocha and also carried out drone strikes in Marib province. Meanwhile, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree stated that Saudi fighter jets have conducted over 40 airstrikes in the provinces of Taiz, Marib, and Al Hudaydah in the past 24 hours.

Request for Assistance from Allies

According to obtained information, Saudi Arabia has requested assistance from regional and Western allies due to a reduction in its missile defense system inventory. This request includes sending air defense support from countries such as France, Pakistan, Egypt, and the United Kingdom. Additionally, Saudi officials have acknowledged that the United States, as the main supplier of weapons, is also facing a reduction in its defensive inventory.

While the United States supports Saudi operations, American officials have held direct negotiations with Houthi representatives in Oman. In this meeting, facilitated by the Omani government, the Houthis assured American officials that they do not intend to attack American ships and are committed to the 2025 ceasefire.

Response to Attacks and Shift in Power Balance

In response to recent attacks, the Houthis announced that they targeted the Khamis Mushait airbase and oil facilities in the port of Yanbu in the Red Sea. These developments could indicate changes in the balance of power on the battlefield. Yemeni journalist Yusuf Mouri noted that the downing of Saudi aircraft could significantly impact Saudi Arabia's ability to conduct airstrikes against Houthi positions.

Neil Hopp, the senior U.S. diplomat for Yemen, told Yemen's Foreign Minister Afrah Al-Zuba that the United States continues to support the Yemeni government and its people against Houthi aggression. This support is announced as tensions in the region continue and the humanitarian situation in Yemen remains severely concerning.
