Yemeni Houthis have targeted the Aramco facilities in the city of Yanbu located on the Red Sea coast, as well as the Khamis Mushait airbase in southern Saudi Arabia with their missile and drone attacks. These attacks come in response to increased Saudi airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen.
Details of the Attacks and Reactions
Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthis, described these attacks as a reaction to the intense airstrikes by Saudi Arabia, stating that this week, Saudi Arabia has conducted over 450 airstrikes on various regions in Yemen. He also mentioned that the Houthis "targeted Aramco facilities in Yanbu with dozens of ballistic missiles and drones," resulting in significant fires at these facilities.

Saree also emphasized that the Khamis Mushait airbase was another target of these attacks. While Saudi officials have not yet responded to the Houthi claims, these attacks have significantly increased the existing tensions between the two sides.
Consequences and Ongoing Tensions
Tensions between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia have sharply escalated. Saudi Arabia is currently continuing air operations in Yemen, while the Houthis are targeting locations within Saudi territory using missiles and drones. These clashes have heightened international concerns regarding security and stability in the region.
Saudi Arabia announced this morning that it intercepted a drone launched by the Houthis over Mecca. Although the Houthis have denied the attack on Mecca, this issue has sparked widespread reactions and intensified tensions. Meanwhile, the Houthis have recently succeeded in a swift operation to push back Saudi-backed government forces from the Red Sea coast and have taken control of the Bab-el-Mandeb trade corridor.
