China urges Iran and the United States to resume negotiations

The Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, in an official meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, in Beijing, urged the two countries to resume their negotiations and adhere to previous agreements. This meeting took place on Wednesday, a week before the anticipated meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington.

Call for Reason and Caution

Wang Yi emphasized the need for reason and caution in the relations between Iran and the United States, stating: "All parties must take effective actions to reopen the Strait of Hormuz as quickly as possible." He added that this action is essential not only for international energy security but also for the stability of supply chains. The Chinese Foreign Minister also noted that China does not want Tehran and Washington to experience tensions in their negotiations and should rebuild the negotiation mechanisms based on the previous agreements reached.

Importance of the Strait of Hormuz

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most strategic points in the world, through which about one-fifth of the world's oil passes.
