Collapse of Residential Building in Gaza, Six Families Trapped Under Rubble

A multi-story building in the west of Gaza City suddenly collapsed at midnight, trapping six families, according to local witnesses and Palestinian reporters. In verified images, rescue teams are seen pulling children from under the rubble and collaborating with local residents who were manually digging.

Cries for Help from Under the Rubble

According to witness testimonies and verified footage, cries for help from children can be heard beneath the concrete as civil defense teams attempt to reach those trapped. One video showed a young girl being pulled alive from the ruins, along with several other survivors, including young children who were struggling to breathe, before being transferred to an ambulance.

Consequences of the Building Collapse

It is still unclear whether there have been any casualties resulting from this incident. The Gaza Ministry of Health and civil defense have not yet issued a statement regarding this matter. Local media reported that the building had previously been damaged and cracked in an Israeli airstrike, leading to its structural instability and eventual collapse.

Thousands of homes and apartment buildings in Gaza have been damaged or partially destroyed due to the war and are now uninhabitable, facing the risk of sudden collapse. Many Palestinians live in temporary shelters and partially destroyed buildings, as Israel has restricted the entry of construction materials needed for repairs, as well as heavy equipment required by civil defense teams to safely clear debris and conduct rescues.

This shortage has forced rescue teams to rely heavily on manual labor to reach individuals trapped in such collapses, slowing the response time to emergencies.
