At a school in the village of Al-Mughayer in the West Bank, five students were killed last year due to attacks by settlers and military forces. The lives of teachers and students are under pressure and at risk.

The boys' educational unit in Al-Mughayer, a village of the same name in the West Bank, has witnessed the death of five students over the past year due to attacks by settlers and Israeli soldiers. This village, now besieged by settlers, has created difficult conditions for teachers and students.

Daily Life at Al-Mughayer School

Wahid Abou Naim, an English teacher at this school, expresses his love and passion for teaching with enthusiasm. He says: "I am happy to be a teacher. Although we do not earn much, my students greet me as soon as I arrive at school and go to their classes with handshakes and smiles. This is a joyful life." However, he quickly turns to the bitter reality he has faced over the past year.

The village of Al-Mughayer is now surrounded by settlers, and only one road leading to it remains, which has a checkpoint. Teachers living in neighboring villages cannot always come to their workplace, adding to daily problems.

Deadly Attacks on Students

In April, a 14-year-old student was shot dead next to the gate of a playground. Wahid, while trying to get this teenager to the hospital, also faced the news of his brother's death. He says: "It is something extremely horrifying when someone targets a school full of children. We have witnessed the killing of hundreds of children by Israeli soldiers and settlers over the past three years, but this situation is particularly heartbreaking."

In addition to this student, four other students have lost their lives during this time, and the situation is in no way improving. According to Wahid, "In the coming months, unfortunately, I expect at least the same level of violence to continue and possibly escalate." This situation not only negatively impacts the students but also puts teachers under severe psychological pressure.

Al-Mughayer School has become a symbol of the vulnerability of children in conflict areas. This is a place where the future of a generation is at risk, and hope for a normal and healthy life has significantly diminished.
