General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry emphasized that Pakistan will continue to defend Saudi Arabia, and this commitment includes the protection of the holy sites of Muslims.

General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Public Relations of the Pakistan Army, elaborated on his country's position regarding Saudi Arabia in a press conference in Islamabad on October 5, 2023. He stated that "Pakistan stands firmly with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; both diplomatically and practically," emphasizing that the country is ready to "go to any level."

Pakistan's Commitment to Defend the Holy Sites of Muslims

General Chaudhry stated that Pakistan's commitment includes the protection of the two holy sites of Muslims in Mecca and Medina, saying: "We are there and will continue to defend the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against any aggression." These remarks come in the wake of intensified missile and drone attacks by the Houthis on Saudi Arabia. Reports indicate that these attacks have increased in recent weeks, raising serious concerns for the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Joint Defense Agreement Among Islamic Countries

The security situation in the region has become more complex, especially following a joint defense agreement among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. This agreement is designed such that any armed attack on one of these three countries is considered an attack on all of them. This highlights the importance of military and security cooperation among Islamic countries in the current situation.

Furthermore, the spokesperson for the Pakistan Army stated that the country will continue its cooperation with Saudi Arabia and is committed to ensuring the security of this country against external threats. These remarks come at a time when tensions in the Middle East, particularly in Yemen and the armed conflicts with the Houthis, continue.

In this context, Iran is recognized as the main supporter of the Houthis, which has increased tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran. According to experts, these tensions could lead to new crises at the regional level.

Ultimately, General Chaudhry emphasized that Pakistan, as an Islamic country, takes its responsibilities regarding security and stability in the region seriously and will continue its efforts to maintain this security.
