Pakistan at the Security Council: Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia are Unacceptable

In New York, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, described the recent Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia as unacceptable during the Security Council meeting. He expressed concern over the rising tensions in Yemen and warned about the negative consequences of these attacks on regional security.

Emphasis on Support for Saudi Arabia

Asim Iftikhar Ahmad stated in this meeting: "We strongly protest the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and support the territorial integrity and security of this country." He also pointed to the dangers these attacks pose to peace and stability in the region. According to him, these attacks represent a serious threat to commercial security in key areas such as the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Bab el-Mandeb.

Analysis of the Situation in Yemen

Asim Iftikhar Ahmad also referred to the critical situation in Yemen and the possibility of a return to wider tensions. However, now, the occurrence of new military attacks may again create problems for the people of Yemen and reduce the chances of achieving diplomatic solutions.

He emphasized the need to return to negotiations and urged the parties involved to refrain from any further military actions and instead move towards dialogue and resolving disputes through diplomatic means.

The United Nations has also reported on the escalation of tensions in Bab el-Mandeb and the western coasts of Yemen, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the security of citizens and adhering to humanitarian laws. Asim Iftikhar Ahmad also spoke about the need for unrestricted access to humanitarian aid in these areas and stressed the necessity of diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the region.
