The Relief and Rescue Organization reported a humanitarian disaster in Gaza that occurred after the collapse of the Al-Saada building on displaced families. The fate of nearly 100 people under the rubble is unknown.

Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Relief and Rescue Organization, announced in Gaza that the situation in the area after the collapse of the Al-Saada building late last night is extremely critical and tragic. This six-story building, which had four apartments on each floor, was targeted due to the recent war and has now collapsed on families who had sought refuge there.

Unknown Fate of the Missing

Basal emphasized that the fate of nearly 100 people who are missing under the rubble of this building is unknown. While rescue teams have managed to save 9 people, including several children and women, the search operation for the missing faces multiple challenges. According to him, the refusal of the Zionist occupiers to allow the entry of adequate equipment and supplies has severely complicated the work of rescuers.

Widespread Damage and Call for International Cooperation

Basal also referred to the extensive damage inflicted on other buildings in Gaza, stating that about 2000 other buildings are at risk of collapse. He called on Nikolai Mladenov, the head of the Gaza Peace Council, to take action as soon as possible and fulfill his duties regarding this crisis and tragic disaster. He urged the international community and ceasefire guarantor countries to send excavators and heavy equipment to prevent further collapses in the area.

Basal noted that thousands remain missing under the rubble and no rescue equipment is available. This crisis clearly demonstrates the urgent need for serious actions by international organizations to prevent human lives from being endangered in this region.
