Saudi Arabia and Israel are holding talks aimed at strengthening Riyadh's defense capabilities against threats from Houthi forces. These negotiations, mediated by CENTCOM (United States Central Command), come in response to an increase in Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia over the past week.
Increase in Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia
Houthi forces have significantly increased their attacks on Saudi Arabia over the past week. These attacks include drone strikes on oil pipelines and pumping facilities, leading to a halt in operations on the main pipeline. Additionally, the Houthis attacked Saudi civilians in a mosque and surrounding buildings near the Yemen-Saudi border. They have also seized several strategically located islands in the Red Sea, blocking Saudi ships from passing through the Bab al-Mandab Strait. Israeli sources have described this action as a form of economic and diplomatic blockade against Saudi Arabia.

Talks for Intelligence Support
Diplomatic sources in the region report that Saudi Arabia and Israel are engaged in talks focused on Saudi Arabia's request for "intelligence support." This request will help Riyadh gain a more comprehensive picture of Houthi troop deployments in the region and identify their potential plans for future operations. The Israeli military has previously demonstrated its intelligence capabilities in the maritime domain and has assisted the U.S. in creating various layers of intelligence regarding the location of Iranian forces.
Additionally, Saudi Arabia has requested assistance from Britain to push back the Houthis from the Bab al-Mandab Strait and protect its oil infrastructure from attacks. In this context, Burnham has agreed to send British military advisors to Saudi Arabia, but has not yet committed to providing further assistance.
Concerns regarding Saudi Arabia's civilian nuclear program have also been raised in the meantime. Former U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to allow Saudi Arabia to develop this program has raised significant concerns within Israeli security agencies. The Saudis are also seeking to advance a diplomatic process with Israel following the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Such an agreement could be particularly significant given the increasing threats in the Middle East and further highlight the necessity of establishing security priorities.
