Saudi Arabia, following the recent attacks by the Houthi group (Ansar Allah) that resulted in the injury of 13 civilians in the cities of Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Taif, announced that it will respond decisively to these attacks. This group, which operates with the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has threatened to continue its attacks on Saudi military positions.
Details of the Attacks and Casualties
In a statement released on Tuesday morning, the coalition led by Saudi Arabia, which supports the legitimate government of Yemen, announced that the Houthi missile and drone attacks on Monday resulted in the injury of several civilians and damage to seven homes and two vehicles. These attacks have raised global concerns about the humanitarian situation in Yemen.

According to official reports, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has warned that since the beginning of this month, the fighting in Yemen has displaced at least 18,000 families, equivalent to 125,000 people. The organization emphasized that the violence has caused people to flee their homes and increased civilian casualties.
Escalation of Tensions and Reactions
While the Houthis defend their attacks on Saudi Arabia and have announced that they carried out 54 airstrikes in the last 24 hours in the provinces of Lahij, Taiz, Al-Jawf, Marib, and Hajjah, the coalition has yet to respond to these claims. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree has stated that F-15 and Typhoon fighter jets from Saudi airbases in Khamis Mushait and Taif were used in these attacks.
Following these attacks, media close to the Houthis reported that Saudi airstrikes resulted in the deaths of three civilians, including two children, and injured at least two others in Taiz province. This exchange of airstrikes comes after rapid advances by the Houthis in western Yemen last week and their control over large parts of the Red Sea coast.
The Yemeni government forces also announced that they made advancements in Taiz province on Monday and succeeded in retaking positions from the Houthis. Meanwhile, the Houthis have also claimed to have captured the larger and smaller Hanish islands in the Red Sea. These islands are located 160 kilometers north of the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
The Yemen war, which has lasted for over a decade, reignited in July with the announcement of a naval blockade by the Houthis and attacks on Saudi ships. This situation poses a threat to the UN-mediated ceasefire established in 2022, which had halted widespread violence.
