Volodymyr Zelensky: Ukraine is ready to stop attacks on Russia

Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, stated in a statement that his country is prepared to halt its attacks on Russian territory if it receives a guarantee from the United States that Russia will not attack Ukrainian infrastructure.

Zelensky's Proposal to the United States

These remarks by Zelensky came on Monday following a claim by Donald Trump, the President of the United States, that Ukraine and Russia have decided to stop targeting each other in energy facilities. Trump raised this issue in the media without providing specific details.

Zelensky further clarified that the cessation of Ukraine's attacks depends on Russia's actual readiness to end the war, adding: "Only if Russia is truly ready to stop this war and not harm lives, will Ukraine take steps to reduce tensions."

Ongoing Russian Attacks on Ukrainian Infrastructure

The President of Ukraine also announced that his country has proposed to its partners to secure an agreement with Russia to stop attacks on critical infrastructure. He accused Moscow of attacking food, energy, and other essential facilities that sustain life.

The ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure have increased pressure on the fuel systems essential for heating and electricity supply, raising concerns about civilians facing a harsh winter. According to Dmitry Medvedenko, a reporter based in Moscow, "These systems are vulnerable, and Russia has exploited this vulnerability to its advantage, leaving thousands of families without electricity or heating over the past three winters."

In recent months, Ukraine has showcased its capabilities in long-range attacks, targeting Russian energy facilities at the farthest points of the frontline. Medvedenko added: "Ukraine may respond by targeting Russia's critical energy systems in kind, and the Kremlin is certainly aware that both sides have limited time to reach an agreement for this winter to ensure their populations are warm and supplied with electricity."

Amid the tensions, both sides continued to exchange airstrikes on Tuesday. Russian attacks on Kyiv that day killed one person and injured seven others. Additionally, two others lost their lives in separate Russian attacks in the cities of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk in Ukraine.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, its forces destroyed 222 Ukrainian drones overnight. There have also been reports of Ukraine attacking an industrial facility in Russia using drones, which damaged this facility and several residential buildings in the Samara region.

Reports indicate that around 40 drones were shot down in this attack. Gorovich, the governor of the region, confirmed this information and stated that the targeted facility was an oil refinery. A large-scale attack by Ukraine on the city of Taganrog in Russia also caused several fires in the city.

Zelensky announced on Tuesday that Kyiv forces targeted a drone production facility in this city.
