Yemeni Armed Forces Attack Houthi Weapons Depots in Marib

The recognized armed forces of the legitimate Yemeni government began their airstrikes on Tuesday, September 24, targeting weapons depots belonging to Houthi militants in the central province of Marib. These attacks specifically targeted Houthi weapons depots in the Al-Jawbah area, but no details about casualties or potential damages have been released.

Failed Houthi Attempts in Marib

This comes as, in a separate incident, Yemeni government forces supported by Saudi Arabia successfully thwarted Houthi attempts to infiltrate the Harib area. These clashes are indicative of escalating tensions between the two warring parties in the Marib province.

Attacks on Houthi Positions in Taiz

The media section of the Taiz military command has also announced that fighter jets targeted a Houthi ballistic missile launch pad at Taiz airport. Local sources have reported that airstrikes have also hit a gathering place for Houthi leaders in the local council building in the Khudair area located in eastern Taiz.

These attacks occur as tensions and clashes between the Houthis and government-aligned forces in Yemen are on the rise. In recent weeks, Houthi positions and missile launch sites in Taiz province have been repeatedly targeted by airstrikes.

Yemen has been embroiled in a deep and complex conflict since the Houthis seized its capital, Sana'a, in 2014. This crisis led to the intervention of a Saudi-led coalition in 2015 aimed at supporting the legitimate Yemeni government.

In recent weeks, the Houthis have taken control of the Al-Mokha port near Bab al-Mandab and the areas of Hays and Khokha. This advance increases their ability to threaten shipping in one of the world's most important maritime routes and exacerbates concerns about maritime security in the region.

The Houthi attack on Taiz province and the Al-Mokha port was carried out at the request of the Islamic Republic to destabilize the Bab al-Mandab Strait and invalidated the ceasefire agreement between the Houthis and their opponents that was signed on April 1, 2022.
