Hamid Karzai Condemns Attack on Mecca

Houthi Claims

Despite this announcement, the Houthis, an Iranian-backed armed group that controls large areas of western Yemen, denied targeting Mecca and accused Saudi Arabia of "lying and fabricating reality." These statements and tensions arise at a time when any threat against the sacred places of Muslims, especially the two holy shrines in Mecca and Medina, is closely monitored in the Islamic world.

Hamid Karzai, emphasizing the significance of these sacred places, called for preventing the escalation of tensions and moving towards peace and stability in the region. He believes that only through joint cooperation and diplomacy can tensions be reduced and security maintained in this area.
