Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has recently experienced signs of increased public support while his popularity had reached its lowest level. This situation has emerged following a four-day poll conducted by Reuters and Ipsos after the first midterm rally of the Republican Party last week.
Poll Results
The poll revealed that 63 percent of Americans oppose the proposal Trump presented in his speech. He had promised that if Republicans maintained control of Congress in the November midterm elections, he would pay all Americans a $5,000 "dividend." In this poll, 1,143 Americans participated nationwide, with a margin of error of 3 percent.

About 35 percent of Americans approve of Trump's performance in the White House, an increase from 33 percent in the previous poll. Trump's popularity had sharply declined after the onset of the war against Iran in February, a war that has had significant impacts on household economic conditions.
Impact of War and Elections
Since the start of the war, Republicans under Trump's leadership have also lost some of their support. Currently, if the congressional elections were held today, 44 percent would vote for Democrats and 37 percent for Republicans. The 7-point gap is the largest recorded since Trump returned to the White House in January 2025.
Polls indicate that Democrats are recognized as better managers and stewards of the economy. 38 percent of voters consider Democrats superior to Republicans in this regard. This is the first time in about a decade that Democrats have managed to gain an advantage in this area.
Trump's construction projects, especially in the capital of the United States, are largely seen as challenging and polarizing initiatives. 91 percent of Democrats oppose these projects, and about two-thirds of Americans, including half of Republicans, consider these projects to have low priority.
