Risks from Houthi attacks
The Pakistani ambassador further explained that the Houthi attacks lead to increased tensions in the region and threaten freedom of navigation in international waters. He warned that this situation could have serious effects on the global economy and energy security. Iftikhar added that the escalation of these attacks in the Bab-el-Mandeb could lead to a serious crisis and harm the trade that passes through this waterway.
Iftikhar also referred to the complex humanitarian situation that has arisen in Yemen, stating, "The situation in Yemen has reached a dangerous stage, and there is a need for immediate action to prevent the escalation of the crisis. We must increase diplomatic efforts to establish peace and political negotiations."

The Pakistani ambassador, pointing out that the current situation in Yemen could turn into a larger humanitarian crisis, called for greater coordination among countries and international organizations to assist the people of Yemen.
