The United Nations yesterday issued an official statement requesting Israel to allow international inspectors access to all areas of the Gaza Strip. This request was made due to the discovery of over 630 bodies and human remains from the rubble of destroyed buildings. This issue not only exacerbates humanitarian problems but also raises serious concerns about the occurrence of war crimes and violations of humanitarian laws.
Discovery of Human Remains and International Concerns
Volker Turk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, stated that the remains of individuals who have been trapped under the rubble during Israeli attacks, including women and children, continue to be retrieved from the devastated areas in Gaza. He also referred to the discovery of remains of entire families, mentioning this as an indication of war crimes and violations of international law.

The Current Situation in Gaza and Demolition Operations
Turk warned that in some areas of Gaza where Israeli forces are present, demolition and clearing operations with bulldozers are ongoing, and remains of victims may still be buried under the rubble. This situation makes it likely that evidence and documentation related to violations of international law will be destroyed, reducing the possibility of identifying victims.
According to the Palestinian Civil Defense report, from November 2025 to September 2026, over 630 bodies and human remains have been retrieved from the rubble of destroyed buildings in Gaza, and more than 8,000 people are still missing and likely trapped under the rubble. In this context, the United Nations has emphasized the necessity of preserving evidence, identifying victims, and allowing access for international inspectors. This request has significantly heightened global concerns, and the need for international oversight of the humanitarian situation in Gaza seems more pressing than ever.
